Become certified in TPOT to ensure fidelity to the Pyramid Model
Developed by highly respected creators of the Pyramid Model for classrooms enrolling children 2–5 years of age, the TPOT™ tool provides information on how well teachers are using practices related to universal, targeted, and individualized supports. This expert-led training shows attendees how to use TPOT to gather critical information on preschool teacher implementation of Pyramid Model practices. Attendees who successfully complete the workshop and meet reliability standards will receive a certificate indicating their reliability status and can serve as reliability partners to other observers.
Who should attend?
This TPOT training is for individuals who are very familiar with the Pyramid Model and want to know how the model can be implemented in preschool settings (see Prerequisites below). The training is ideal for PBS coaches, early childhood training and technical assistance providers, Head Start mental health specialists and education managers, resource and referral trainers, QRIS technical assistance providers, early childhood program directors, curriculum specialists, Head Start TA providers, and inclusion specialists. Please note that this is an intensive workshop that requires prerequisite knowledge, preparation, and participation in the entire training.
What you’ll learn
During this 2-day training, attendees will learn
- how to use the TPOT tool, with a focus on key definitions and scoring guidance
- how to score the indicators
- how to observe and interview, based on a 2 ½ hour video
- how to score TPOT to check for reliability with the gold standard score
If you complete the workshop and meet reliability standards, you will receive a certificate indicating that you’re a certified TPOT assessor.
