According to Laurie Martin, there is a relationship between her middle school students successfully completing statewide standardized tests and UDL. By creating standards-based lessons which use the UDL framework, teachers provide multiple pathways to students as they acquire the skills related to the standards. In Laurie’s experience, this use of the UDL framework helps students prepare for the upcoming assessments without putting them through drills and memorization.
